Fauna

The available information about the fauna is unfortunately still very poor, due also to the remoteness and the rough terrain. This makes observations and monitoring very difficult and expensive. Most of the information on the presence of species are from local communities and from student courses held. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out an extensive and long-term research on the faunistic biodiversity within the Cocuy National Park and surrounding areas. Only few groups have been systematically studies.
